Special mention to Elegance for their Viking sails and Joan Ellen for the crowd of legitimate Vikings and many others who …

Opening Day Review 2022

DSC_4717
Opening Day - completely according to script The fabulous weather for Opening Day was a wonderful way to start the season. Commodore Niesje Hees pointed out that sailing is …

Want to get on a boat but no experience?

Each week many of our Keelboat skippers/Owners are looking for crew to help out on race days. With racing every Wednesday and Saturday on our calendar there is always the opportunity to get on the water. What if you don't have any or much experience? That is fine, most skippers at RBYC are keen to help out and help show you the ropes as you go. But what we recommend is to look at doing one of the training courses we offer at the club. There are two options depending on what you feel comfortable with.
Option 1: Adult Learn to Sail (18+). Run through our Discovery Sailing Center on site these are ideal for anyone with no or little experience. Gaining skills through the Australia Sailing Adult learn to sailing in our fleet of Quest Dinghies. You will come out knowing the basics of sailing and be a useful crew member. View details HERE
Option 2: Introductory Sailing Course. This course is run my Yachtmaster Training and offers sail training on larger boats. Again ideal for those with no or little experience you will gain the knowledge of sailing a bigger boat and also become a useful crew member for race days. View details HERE

You can also call the Sailing office to discuss these options and how to get yourself on a boat.

Everything then just seemed …
