A number of Cruising Group Boats have departed the RBYC Marina, abandoning Melbourne to its winter, and are heading north to warmer climes. At the time of writing, Caprice (Leanne and Gordon) is in Yamba, NSW, It’s a Privilege (Peter Strain) and Aquacadabra (Rob Hurrell) are in Sydney, while Chakana (Brenton and Robina Smith) and Saffron (Geoff Brewster and Barbara Burns) are making their way north along the NSW coast towards Sydney. Aquacadabra, Chakana and Saffron will be joining a cruising rally departing Sydney for New Caledonia and parts beyond, while It’s a Privilege is heading to Queensland

Come along and hear Wayne Seaward explore the challenges, barriers, and excitement of crew selection, training and development, boat preparation, along with the pitfalls and joy of entering a Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race for the first time, at 71 years of age.

Wayne will tell the story and triumphs of Cyan Moon’s 2022 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. An adventure 60 years in the making, 360 days in the preparation, and 3 days, 20 hours, and 20 minutes in the execution. All this in a Beneteau Oceanis Clipper 473 - a cruising yacht.

As usual, after gathering in the Members Bar for the weekly announcements and members’ draw at 7:00pm, please join us in the Bayview Room for the dinner and to hear Wayne’s talk.
