Etchells East Gippsland Championship 24 – 26 January at Metung
The six races of the Etchells East Gippsland Championship at Metung were held in varied but beautiful conditions. The winner of each race was awarded a trophy celebrating a renowned Etchells sailor. The Rex Billings trophy for heat 1 was won by Peter Robson, Jan Talacko and Estaban Franco on Playing Around 3. Many at RBYC will remember Rex as well as other stalwarts of the class who had heat trophies named after them; Barry Ravell, Dave Lawrence, Wayne Dixon and Alan Sandy. Peter Wilkinson entertained the competitors by providing background information about each of these terrific sailors at the daily prize giving. Here is a link to the regatta page including results. There are great photos and video from Jeanette Severs on the Metung Yacht Club Facebook page. The Flying Dutchman Nationals were being held at the same time and the fresh conditions made for some spectacular shots.
