Training News

Youth Training Kicks Off

The training session for our youth sailors started with our new Term 3 training program getting underway on Sunday. With 24 RBYC junior members undertaking training in the Junior Race Squad (Opti), Youth Race Squad (Quests) and 29er Race Squad. It's great to see these young sailors continuing their journey at the club after completing their initial training through our learn to sail programs and such a great growth in the Youth Squads. The Term 3 program will lead them into September School Holidays, Term 4 and Dec/Jan Holidays so there is a lot more sailing on offer this year. Many of these sailors will be competing in the Stonehaven Cup in January, some for the last time and some it will be their first event. There is always the opportunity to join these fleets once you have completed the required training.
Our learn to Sail programs start back up over September School holidays . We offer training for all levels aged 5 - 18, running the Australian Sailing Tackers and OutThere programs as well as our own in house race squads. Places are filling fast so if your child was to get involved best to book in early. Please call the Sailing Office on 09 9592 3092 if you are unsure of what course is suitable.

Polishing up our history

Those who attended the annual Cocktail Party and presentation night admired the tables of shiny trophies. However, there are many more in the Trophy cabinet that are no longer awarded but nonetheless, a valuable part of the Club’s history. On a recent wet day, the Thursday Working Group decided to work indoors – to sparkling effect! Thanks to all of you for bringing these treasurers back to life.
