We arrived at Coral Sea Marina, our berth for the next 5 months, and popped into the local Chandlery store ( always a treasure trove 🤩) bumping into fellow RBYC member and boating educator Gordon Buchan, a happy surprise! He shared his experience about where the locals anchor around the Whitsunday islands and reefs. Being a smart yachtie, he provided guidance …

SMART series session 1: Review
Long term club members Paul Jackson and Rod McKenna generously gave their time to host the first of the SMART series last Wednesday 5 June. Paul provided invaluable tips about how to prepare to race if you’ve never or seldom raced while Rod shared his knowledge of the race flags, which can be confusing for first time racers. For those who couldn’t make it here is a link to the slides (provide link). There is no substitute for the discussion through - the next session is on 19 June on Race Rules - both basic and advanced. Hope to see you there!

Upcoming Sailing
To all keelboat skippers If you are planning on racing in the Costello Pursuit races, you must enter prior to the first race, i.e before June 15th, in order for the Sailing Office to allocate start times. Failing that, the Office will have to provide you a time on the day, and it would be very, very unlikely to be a favourable time

On the field: Adelaide was a heavy favorite to knock off visiting Richmond at the Adelaide Oval last Thursday night. Nobody told the Tigers, and they played a solid game this week to win 79-71. It was only their second win this year. On Friday night at Marvel Stadium, the Western Bulldogs were no match for Brisbane. The Lions ran …

RBYC Supports Brighton Dads Big Freeze Jump
RBYC was happy to support the local "Brighton Dads" in their Big Freeze fundraiser. RBYC put on Bacon & Egg rolls and Big Freeze Lager with all proceeds going to the Fight MND campaign.
Organiser Ben Robb said "We at wanted to say a huge thanks for hosting us at RBYC on Sunday. After short notice it was wonderful that the club was able to accommodate us. Riley and the rest of the RBYC staff were simply awesome. We were really happy with the turnout for Year 1, and are sure this event will only get bigger and better in years to come. We hope the event was beneficial for RBYC as well, and this will be the start of a long relationship."
