Dear Skippers, Sailing committee has approved a change to the 2023 - 2024 SI’s for Division 1 & 2 Saturday racing at RBYC. The change is as follows: Should the weather forecast be for challenging conditions, for example 22 - 25 knots with a difficult sea-state, the Race Officer can at their discretion change the course from Windward/Leeward to a Passage Race. The rationale for this is to encourage participation in racing, without excessive risk to sailors and race management. We anticipate that such changes would be announced by 10am on the day. The 2.4mR Nationals kicked off on Friday 26th with 20 boats competing. Melbourne weather however put a halt to sailing on day 1 with 25+ knots and 1.5m seas not suitable for this class of boat. In typical Melbourne style day 2 was a complete contrast with nothing over 15 knots all day and a flat sea (perfect sailing conditions …

Dragons and Etchells Regattas at Metung
The Dragons Prince Phillip Cup / Australian Championship and Etchells Vic States were held in Metung over the past week, and several RBYC boats and crews had a wonderful time. Thanks to Janette Severs for the photos, and you can see more along with coverage of the event by Janette on the Metung Facebook site.
The conditions were tricky to say the least, but RO John Spencer (RBYC Past Commodore) did a terrific job of getting the regattas in. Well done to Charlie Stanton and crew on his Dragon Amazing Grace – Chas has competed in every Prince Philip Cup since 1989. Etchells 1444 Playing Around 3 (Peter Robson) had a great result overall, and all boats had their moments. We are all looking forward to the Etchells Nationals at Metung in November.
