On the field: in today's game between the Lions and Tigers, Brisbane 'froze in the moment' in the final term to lose yet another game at the MCG. A quality team like the Lions, that kicked the first 6 goals of the match and led by 42 points in the second quarter, should not let their opposition catch up. Unfortunately for Lions' fans, this is what happened, as Richmolnd closed to within 11 points at the final change and went on with it in the final quarter to win their first close game for the year by 7 points. The win means the Tigers can still make the 8. The same can be said for Carlton, but after the Blues' shock loss to the Crows on Saturday night at Adelaide Oval, they have a big job ahead just to remain in the 8 - Carlton play Brisbane, Melbourne and Collingwood in the final 3 rounds.

The Demons got their campaign back on track with a dominant 46-point win over Freo at Perth Stadium on Friday night. Collingwood won yet another close one by 1 goal, this time over Port Adelaide. Sydney smashed their cross-town rivals GWS by 73 points, Geelong beat the Western Bulldogs by 28 points, while St Kilda won their game over Hawthorn by 12 points. Their win pushes the Sainters into 8th spot on the ladder, ahead of Richmond and the Bulldogs. The closest game of the round saw Gold Coast win by 3 points over the visiting West Coast Eagles. In the late game, Essendon recorded an 8 goal victory over North Melbourne - Jake Stringer kicked 5 goals. Sydney's big win coupled with the Brisbane loss today, sees Sydney move to 4th spot on the ladder ahead of Brisbane while Collingwood's 10th straight victory has pushed them up to third on the ladder with three rounds remaining.
