Marina Dredging

Last year RBYC received a permit to conduct maintenance dredging of the marina. Saturday was the running of the annual Cerberus Race, this race marks the end of the summer season of sailing and culminates in a BBQ as usual on the hardstand but this year due to the weather was moved to the Sturrock building. We had 21 boats enter in what turned out to be a nice breeze . B2 (JAMHU) took out line hours with an elapsed time of 1:40:15, The PHS winner however was B71(Another Chapter) which finished 2 sec after JAMHAU. Congratulations skipper of the day, Julie McKayto the crew.

OTB News

A team of six RBYC sailors travelled to Ballarat to compete in the annual Ballaraat (yes it’s spelt that way) Rudder Shield. It was a fun inclusive event with a couple of sabot sailors joining the more experienced hands for match racing in a fleet of 10 jubilees.
The victors had travelled all the way from Cronulla in NSW to compete. They sailed two up which probably gave them an advantage in the light and fluky airs on the day.
Past commodores Niesje Hees and Paul Jackson joined team captain Gary Davison, Josh Reid, Rear commodore Cath Hurley and Ray Smith to represent Team Brighton. While we weren’t successful on the water. It was a fun day.
If you’d like to join us next year contact Gary Davison.
