Message from General Manager

Dear Members
RBYC is hosting Sail Melbourne from Thursday to Sunday this week.
Sail Melbourne is the premier Victorian Dinghy Regatta. We are the organising authority in co-operation with Australian Sailing. We are proud to host some 200 boats with our partner clubs and volunteers from Black Rock Yacht Club, Mordialloc Sailing Club, Royal Yacht Club of Victoria, Royal Melbourne Yacht Club and Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club.
Sail Melbourne is also supported by the Victorian State Government.
There will be some inconvenience with the Car Park closed from Wednesday to Sunday. The rigging lawn, Members’ Bar, café and marina will all be busy.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the club to shine. Many sailors, both novice & elite, will be visiting our club and we have opened our doors to make them welcome, I encourage you to join in, be hospitable and be proud of your club.

CLUB CAR PARKING CLOSED 27TH NOV T0 2 DEC

Parking at RBYC will be closed from 5pm Tuesday 26th November until 5pm 2nd December. This is to allow storage of visiting boats for Sail Melbourne

Sailing Lifts Your Spirits is back for another summer at RBYC

Sailing Lifts Your Spirits got off to a cracking start last Thursday with absolutely perfect conditions for our four boat fleet. We had 37 first responders, healthcare workers and volunteers on the water. Our thanks to Andy on Serendipity and Paul on Birubi and special thanks to Hugh Pilsworth and his yacht Kiela 2, who has joined the Sailing Lifts Your Spirits fleet from Sandringham Yacht Club. A magnificent sunset on the deck was the backdrop to dinner and a short discussion about why sailing is so good for your wellbeing. Most of our guests had never been sailing before but they all showed interest in pursuing a sailing pathway.

Monday Working Group

Yesterday, an eager set of volunteers gathered at the Club to continue the program of schedule works around our Clubhouse. Unfortunately due to the rain and humidity we were unable to do any painting or cleaning. Nevertheless, we’ll be back next Monday to continue our work.
We are humbled by the feedback from members who appreciate the cleaning and restoration of the outdoor tables. There remains a lot to do. At the same time, a number of members have offered suggestions on future projects. We will look to do these as soon as possible but their timing depends on the support from members and the availability of Club resources.
Over coming weeks we will focus on a number of projects on the outside decks while the gym will receive some well deserved attention early in the new year. If you’d like to join us, we meet at 10.00am each Monday on the lower deck.
I Iook forward to seeing you.
