Report From GC Member Greg Clinnick
Some recent interactions with new crew members has reminded me that the sport of sailing is more about the people than it is about the boats we sail on. I have had the good fortune to sail on everything from a mirror dingy to a Volvo 70 over the past 40+ years and it’s the friendships that have evolved through …

Asian Regatta Report

by Paul Pascoe Recently I attended two regattas in Asia as Chairman of the Jury. The two events were quite different but both open to all competitors and sailed on provided keelboats. The organisers of both events have encouraged me to see if there are teams from Australia that would like to compete in next year’s events. Both events have …

On Saturday the hardstand was busy with Etchells returning from the Metung Nationals, including visiting boats, ahead of the Worlds in January. Many managed to get their rigs in before racing on a shifty but pleasant day on the water.

Lady Stonehaven Cup Decided 2024
On Sunday 10th, RBYC and RMYS competed for the Lady Stonehaven Cup. This year we fielded 7 boats (21 young sailors) who competed hard and did very well. RMYS took the overall win with RBYC taking out 2nd and 3rd. This was a great practice run for the Stonehaven Cup in January. Our Junior development squads have grown significantly over the last 2 years and the hard work every Sunday is paying off. Can't wait to see how they go at the Stonehaven this year.

Monday Working Group - Update
The inaugural gathering of the Monday Working Group has held yesterday on a perfect Melbourne Spring day. While 60 year member Clive Rumberg and myself cleaned the downstairs tables, Rear Commodore Cath Hurley and Julie Mckay resurfaced the tables on the member’s deck. You’d all agree that the before and after photos speak for themselves.
Many thanks to Cath, Julie and Clive for their dedication and hard work.
There’s still so much to be done. And I’d like to invite all interested members to join us on the downstairs deck on Monday 18th November at 10.00am where will plan the day’s activity.
I look forward to your support in enhancing the appearance of your Club.

OAKS Day 2024
Our annual Oaks day event was again a great success, the weather turned on all its charm, all the ladies made a great effort and looked beautiful. We had best hat best dressed, best shoes prizes, auctions and raffle prizes and the sweeps. $14,750 was raised for Sandringham hospital. A huge thank you to all the sponsors, donations and people who gave their time. The ladies enjoyed a cocktail on arrival, a lovely lunch with drinks and lots of Pommery champagne. They danced the night away at the after party on the deck. Below is the link to view the days photos, enter your email address and the password Oaks View photos HERE
