#teambrighton at the Waszp Australian Championships

Six RBYC sailors headed to Port Stephens over the Australia Day long weekend to compete at the Australian Waszp national championships. We all had a great time sailing in a spectacular location.

The 42 boat fleet was star-studded, with the current top two sailors in the world and three leading New Zeeland boats. Royal Brighton sailors excelled easily being the best performing club, the great results included:

  • Ben Gunther 5th overall, 2nd Australian
  • Tom Trotman 7th overall
  • Jack Felsenthal 9th overall
  • Pat Distefano 12th overall
  • Lox Vaughan 14th overall
  • Alison Dale 22nd overall, 1st Female

We all want to thank RBYC for their ongoing support of the Waszp class.

Many of us are keen to head to the Waszp Games (world championships) on Lake Garda in July, I am sure you will see us training hard at the club. If you or any members have any questions about the class or are keen to be involved we are eager to help and get more sailors foiling.
