Day 6 saw the conclusion of the 91st Stonehaven Cup in St Helens, Tasmania, with only one race to decide the winners.
The day was sunny with SE winds and light 10-15 knots. All sailors performed well and RBYC sailors Jett Pearson and crew in John Ackhurst, sail number 1472, led the fleet for all the legs except at the last top mark, finishing in 2nd place.
Final RBYC Stonehaven Cup rankings, in order, are:
- John Ackhurst 1472: skipper Jett Pearson, crew Nicholas Michele and Caden Humphrey
- Raffle 1003 – skipper Angus Mahoney, crew Tadhg Syme and Morgan Williamson
- Harmony 1059 – skipper Fergus Stewart, crew Jarvis Dart and Aiden Huzzard
- Emma 1005 – skipper Emma Prest, crew Lachen Auden and Mietta Rael
A great effort from, RMYS’s Scarlett 1030, who went on to win this year’s Stonehaven Cup.
The event finished with a wonderful presentation night that celebrated all the winners and competitors of the series, including the 1960 Stonehaven Cup winners. In their speech they strongly and emotionally noted that their mate ship has not only stayed strong but has also grown over the 60 years since their win 🙂
