Congratulations to our young RBYC member Morgan Williamson who has been selected, along with 5 other Opti sailors, to represent Australia at the Qingdao International Optimist Training Camp & Regatta starting this weekend.

This event, now in its 7th iteration, is the product of a strong relationship built over the years between the Victorian International Optimist Dinghy Association (VIODA) and the Qingdao Administration Center of Sailing Sport. It not only provides athletes with a new and exciting sailing experience, but also serves as an invaluable cultural aspect, where sailors can get to know the Chinese lifestyle and customs along with peers from all around the World.

Participants will later have the opportunity to reciprocate Qingdao’s hospitality and welcome some Chinese sailors back home.

Morgan started his sailing career through Tackers a little more than a year ago nad has always shown a deep love for the sport and great determination, participating in many regattas since then.

Congratulations and good luck to all the sailors involved in this initiative and to coach Sam Mackay, who has accompanied the group and will deliver the coaching.
