We have organised an INTENSIVE two-day powerboat handling course together with RBYC member and Yachtmaster School CEO Gordon Syme.
This course will run over two full days, Saturday August 31 and Sunday September 1, comprises a mix of theory and practise, and is designed to improve your boat handling skills, especially in confined areas such as marinas and in swell and waves. You will learn more about engines and types of crafts and practise navigation techniques on a passage. The information you will gain in this course will allow you to comfortably sit the State Boat License exam at VicRoads, if you don’t already possess a marine license.
There are no particular prerequisites for this course, except being older than 12 and water confident.
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for anyone who wishes to further develop their powerboat driving skills. It is also a prerequisite for becoming a Dinghy and/or Windsurfing Instructor. It is therefore great for anyone in these categories:
- People with no powerboating experience who want to obtain a Marine License
- People wanting to improve their powerboat handling skills
- Volunteers wanting to help RBYC or other clubs in race management duties
- People wanting to obtain the Australian Sailing instructor qualification
The cost is only $190 per person, so it provides excellent value for money given all the information that is provided and the expertise of the instructor!
